Following any procedure where numbing is used, be careful not to eat or chew for at least two hours or until the numbness wears off. This will prevent chewing of the cheek or lips which will cause swelling the following day.
If any imbalances exist in the bite after the numbness has worn off, please be sure to call the office the next day to evaluate whether adjustments are needed. These small imbalances are very common, but need to be addressed in order to prevent pain and damge to either the tooth or the restoration.
Specific instructions are needed for the following procedures:
- Crown and Bridgework
- Laser Periodontal Surgery
- Porcelain Veneers
- Root Canal
The most important thing to remember, is that once restoration is completed, the teeth must be maintained in order to keep the remaining tooth from decaying.
